I made a mistake some years ago and some people make little mistakes, and some make big ones. Mine felt like a mountain and I beat myself up for years about it… or should I say I ate myself up and up until I had gained 150 pounds. Two years ago I saw a picture of myself at my daughter’s wedding and that was it. I had to make a change. I had tried several times before but it was always for the wrong reasons, my husband, kids, or just out of shame feeling so comfortable to face the world at the weight I was at. This time it was for me! It was time to choose life, to drop the shame, forgive myself and to heal. One day on the radio I heard Rachel Phlaten’s Fight Song. The words say:
This is my fight song, take back my life song.
Prove I’m alright song,
My powers turned on starting right now, I’ll be strong,
I’ll play my fight song,
And I don’t really care, if nobody else believes,
Cause I’ve still got a lot of flight left in me
From that day forward I have listened to this song to start each day. It reminds me how far I have come and that my fight it not over yet. I still have 20 pounds to lose and a lifetime ahead of me to fight every day to keep the weight off. Better U Today gave me everything I needed, the support, the education, the food and the knowledge of my own body. I am now one of the owners of Better U Today in Redmond and look forward to helping my clients on their journey to a Better U.
